David H. Thomas, III, was born in Somerville, New Jersey, March 28, 1956. He was admitted to the Texas and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas Bars in 1981; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit in 1982; the New Mexico and U.S. District Court, District of New Mexico in 1991; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit in 2001.

Dave attended New Mexico State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in 1978, and Texas Tech University, where he graduated with his J.D. in 1981. 

He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of New Mexico, and the American Bar Association.

Dave is still licensed and practiced in private practice in Texas (1981-1991). He also practiced and was a partner at what is now known as the Miller, Stratvert law firm (1991-1998) and practiced at Constantine & Thomas (1998-1999). He has been a sole practitioner since September 15, 1999.

Dave was a Rotarian for 25 years and recently worked with his wife, Jennifer, recruiting new members with the United Way.  Dave also served for many years on the YMCA Board in Amarillo, as well as an Elder at his Dad's old church in Amarillo, Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Since 1980, Dave has been married to Jennifer Thomas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Albuquerque. They have two girls, Caitlin (1986) and Julie (1990).

Susan K. Soto, Legal Assistant/Paralegal, has been with Dave Thomas & Associates since October 1999. Susan successfully completed the UNM Continuing Education Paralegal program in October 1993 and Parks Business College Legal Secretary program in July 1982. Susan has been working in the legal field in variety of areas in Albuquerque since 1989.
